Spot The Difference With Niki & Jazmin Review
Spot The Difference With Niki & Jazmin
Spot The Difference With Niki & Jazmin is a very intriguing game in which there are two difficulty levels in order to obtain a gold star (which is a great use of a star for positive reinforcement). The first level is easy and in easy you must find three out of the five differences in order to obtain the gold stars. On hard you must find all five differences in order to obtain the red stars.
What I like most about the app is how the pictures are formatted. I think this makes the app very appropriate for young children who like spot the difference games. I also especially like it because it is an app that is geared for girls (even though anyone can play it) and I have seen a lot of apps in the app store that are just for boys, so it is nice to have something girly. I like that you have 18 pictures to choose from and the difficulty level is never above where a child would get frustrated, which is very important. What I love about the 18 scenes is that even though they are not real life pictures, they relate to things that children would do in their every day life like go outside and play, go sledding, celebrate the holidays and go to the park just to name a few. This made me like the app even more. I also like that is a child makes a mistake, they are not penalized for it which is a model of error-less learning. This is one of my strongest views in teaching on how children should learn because it is okay to make mistakes and then learn to correct them independently.
When having children use the app, I have found that they overall enjoyed it. When it came time for a choice, it was an app that a few of the girls wanted as a reward (4-8 year old children). I found that children also liked to draw out the scenes and then try to explain what Niki and Jazmin were doing. I thought this was wonderful because it is hard for many children to expand on their imaginations and it was nice that this prompted them to wanted to play. Overall, I think the app is nicely constructed and would hope to see it expanded in the future.
Improvements:
- Personally, I would like to see maybe a beginners level with less distractions so children with disabilities are more likely to be successful when using this app.
- A level between easy and hard. This way children who are not quite ready for hard can continue to play this app.
- I would like to see the app expanded to more than 18 picture boards in the future.
